FTC Prestige & Performance Cars have been established for over 45 years and we feel our experience and product knowledge in buying and selling specialist prestige motorcars is second to none.
All of our cars are directly sourced from the manufacturers’ wholesale corporate marketing divisions or they come directly to us in part exchange from the previous owners - therefore ensuring that the underlying pedigree of vehicles offered for sale are of unquestionable quality. Unless otherwise stated, all sourced late registered motorcars offered, are one owner vehicles from new and all of our cars are guaranteed mileage and 100% HPI Clear, with all relevant certification held on file. As meticulous and exacting professionals, we thoroughly scrutinise the vehicle’s condition, documentation and history to satisfy ourselves that there are ‘no stories’ and no ambiguities. With often over 1.5m worth of stock, our thoroughness at the point of purchase is an integral part of our duty of care - thus giving our customers that added reassurance at the point of sale that they are not exposed. When all said and done, it’s all about trust and reputation if any car has our name on it!
As you can see from our stock profile, we don’t do standard, we specifically target ultra high-spec motorcars for stock, we target anything prestige or performance that carries that ‘X’ factor, unique cars, often one off special order vehicles, branded flagship models, launch edition models and cars that the initial customer has ordered new ticking all the option boxes available. In the main, that’s what we buy and that’s what we sell. To put it into perspective, at any one time, over 50% of our available stock is singularly unique in terms of finding anything comparable in the market place, many cars are simply one offs and as such, in terms of options, there are no like for like comparisons out there.
Our meticulous vehicle preparation process leaves no stone unturned and is something we have become renowned for. Whatever is required to make the car as close to perfect as possible relative to its age and price point is carried out - scrupulous preparation by our in house detailer and, if necessary, any refurbishment carried out to exacting standards. If a car is due service and/or inspection, this work is undertaken by Main Dealers – we use Sytner BMW High Wycombe, Mercedes-Benz of Beaconsfield, Stratstone Jaguar/Land Rover, HR Owen Bentley and Chiltern Aston Martin to name a few. If a car needs new tyres it will only have fitted the correct vehicle specific premium branded tyres. In short, unlike most car retailers, NOTHING is done with cost saving in mind.
It is amazing to hear the amount of our new customers who have travelled 100 + miles to look at a very expensive two year old car at a main dealer or prestige retailer that was described by the salesman on the phone as ‘mint’. Countless stories of arriving to find curbed wheels, tyres running at 3mm, scratches to the bodywork, damaged leather, service and/or warning lights on etc. It is this arrogant approach that gives the business a bad name. The salesman waffles on about "Well it is two years old" or "That will be done, it hasn’t been through the workshop yet" - frankly, I’m out of there!
There is no denying the internet is a game changer and everybody wants the ‘best deal’, frankly, we are no different however, there are nuances relating to like for like comparisons which can only be addressed by spending time looking at individual cars - sadly, there isn’t a quicker alternative. We specialise in very hi-specification examples of flagship vehicles - special order vehicles loosely described as ‘box tickers’. These are often fitted with tens of thousands of pounds worth of options over and above a ‘standard’ car. As an example, take a mid-range used 7 series or S Class for sale at say 40k, good value at half price costing circa 80k new. We may have a similar car by age and mileage up for sale at 43k but our car has an enormous list of cost options and cost 105k new. Which is the cheaper car? Or should one say, which one offers the best value? You works the maths, we have! As en example we recently sold a 22,000 mile BMW 650i M Sport Gran Coupe Individual for 36k which had 28k worth of options, an extreme example I know but nonetheless frustrating when a guy phoned and said why is it so expensive, there is similar car on Auto Trader for 32k. Intrigued, we checked the car to find that it was in fact the same age, it had had 3 previous owners and had done 43,000 miles with only 1 BMW service, add that to the fact it was a basic car which cost 72k new as opposed to ours at half the miles, being a one owner with day one BMW history which cost new over 110k, tongue in cheek, I had to agree with him that our car was in fact more expensive! In our opinion if you have a passion for cars as we do and based on any logical evaluation, hi-spec flagship models are far and away the best value, sure, you may have to pay a notional premium of 5% but from this side of the fence, that little bit extra is worth every penny particularly if you are looking for a keeper.
In short, FTC offer exquisite examples of exclusive, special order and extremely high specification flagship vehicles but with no frills, no commissionable pushy staff, just direct and straightforward old fashioned dealing from our private countryside estate. Put quite simply, if you can buy a comparable car of quality cheaper with the same level of indemnity and security, you've done very well.
